Stone and brick add a certain kind of elegance and quality to a home.  However, if the masonry work is not installed properly it could turn into a disaster.  Prep work, estimating, the mortar, the brick, the stone, lintels, arches, ties, weeps, and more will all be discussed.  Join us May 21st as we look at the world of residential masonry.  We will look at all of this and more as we focus on best practices to ensure you get a quality masonry job.

Windows, doors, house wrap, T-Ply, insulation board, flashings, siding, soffit, fascia, and more are covered in this class about buttoning up the outside of the house once the frame is complete.  We will even throw in a little building science to understand why we use these materials on the exterior of every house we build.  Whatever materials your company uses – we will probably look at them in this class.  Air tight and water tight – this will be our theme so we come to understand the importance of this barrier between the outside world and the inside of the home.  The Envelope, learn the importance of sealing it up.

With 40 years of residential construction under my belt I have held almost every position in the industry. I personally built over 1000 homes before shifting to the management side of things. From there I have touched around 35,000 more homes as they were being built. I find nothing more rewarding than working in the home building industry. Our job is providing shelter for our fellow human beings. This is a noble endeavor.
